Why America Needs War

GR Editor’s Note: This incisive article was written on April 30, 2003 in the immediate wake of the war on Iraq, by renowned historian and political scientist Dr. Jacques Pauwels, Research Associate of the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG).

The article largely pertains to the presidency of George W. Bush.

A timely question: Why Does the Trump administration need war, including a $1.2 trillion nuclear weapons program?

War against North Korea, Iran, Russia and China is currently on the drawing board of the Pentagon.

Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen…

Why has the US been at war for more than half a century … ? And we call that period “the post war era”.

Deliberate destruction of sovereign countries. Millions of deaths.

And why do Americans support the US military agenda?

Wars are a terrible waste of lives and resources, and for that reason most people are in principle opposed to wars. The American President, on the other hand, seems to love war. Why? Many commentators have sought the answer in psychological factors. Some opined that George W. Bush considered it his duty to finish the job started, but for some

Gunmen assassinate ex-Syria army officer in Daraa

Unidentified gunmen assassinated Mohammad Maher Al-Rifai, a former officer in the Syrian Army who allegedly joined the opposition, in the country’s southern province of Daraa. “Rifai has defected the Syrian forces since the beginning of the revolution in 2011 and joined the opposition’s Free Syrian Army,” local media quoted sources as saying. The sources pointed out that Al-Rifai, known as “Abu Bahr”, had re-joined the regime’s compulsory military service after a settlement agreement between Bashar Al-Assad’s army and the opposition forces. They added that he had later joined the opposition again. The local sources noted that the ex-soldier’s family blamed the Syrian military’s security branch for his assassination. Syria has been ravaged by a civil war since early 2011 when the Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protesters. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and more than ten million displaced, according to UN estimates. READ: Germany arrests two Syrians over Nusra Front execution video

Iraq closes night clubs over coronavirus cases

Iraq’s Ministry of the Interior yesterday announced the closure of all casinos, gambling halls, and nightclubs in the capital Baghdad. “The ministry’s intelligence agency has carried out a security duty in different parts of Baghdad,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that the security forces had “closed casinos, nightclubs and alcoholic beverages outlets in a number of hotels and lounges across Baghdad.” The ministry pointed out that the move was made “to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus in the capital city.” The owners of those venues, the statement noted, would abide by the decision “in cooperation with the Iraqi federal police.” READ: Children’s hospital fighting to keep cancer patients safe from COVID-19 in Iraq Iraq has so far recorded 75,194 coronavirus cases, including 3,055 deaths and 43,079 recoveries, according to its Health Ministry. The country’s health system has been overwhelmed by the rising numbers, and there is a shortage of medical supplies including PPE and oxygen canisters.

Skynet Does Brexit: U.K Truckers Delivering To EU Must Now Use The Border's New (Untested) Computer System

Truck drivers that are looking to take their haul into the EU from the UK now must comply with a new, untested computer system that the EU has set up "to avert chaos" at the border - but will likely wind up causing it. The system is called the Smart Freight System and it requires drivers to file information electronically and receive approval from tax authorities before being allowed to travel to the border, according to Bloomberg.  The information was detailed in a recent 200 page report called “The Border with the European Union”. The document, reviewed by Zero Hedge, lays out in painstaking detail how products of all sorts should be moved across the border according to whether or not the point of entry has various computer/inventory systems in place.  The systems are being put in place to stop trucks with incorrect paperwork and to prevent traffic jams. The system relies on a system called the Goods Vehicle Movement System - which so far has not been tested - in place in time. The government is aiming for July of next year for the system to be

They are Deliberately Trying to Bankrupt Businesses To Recreate A Marxist World

by Martin Armstrong, Armstrong Economics: COMMENT: Hi Marty, Most provinces (including the touristic Balearic islands) have now mandated mask use even if you’re in the woods or park or in a totally deserted street or village – i.e. in all public spaces even if there are no people around at all. (In 40C heat.) 45,000 regime goons (aka cops) are now policing mask and “social distancing” rules on the streets (and beaches) of Spain, and handing out fines. Also, a part of Catalunya is now in total quarantine again with people not allowed to leave home, and restaurants, bars, etc forced to close again (other shops can open but only by prior scheduled appointment with a client – so basically, no point of staying open at all). i.e., the same evil BS as in all the other countries and cities that have now imposed a second quarantine/confinement. There will be NOTHING left standing in the economy. It will be rolling quarantines until they’re sure not a single business (except the large multinationals) has survived. And people will be left mental wrecks far worse than if they had lived through a world war. It’s a total destruction of life and civilization.
