Three In Ten Americans Increased Supplement Use Since Onset Of Pandemic

The decision by Americans to optimize their immunity through the use of dietary supplements is supported by numerous scientific studies.

A team of researchers from Hospital del Mar in Barcelona, Spain, recently examined whether high-dose vitamin D can reduce the risk of death in hospitalized coronavirus patients. Impressively, they found that if given early enough the vitamin cut the risk of death by a dramatic 60 percent. This suggests an outcome twice as effective as that attributed to the steroid dexamethasone, a medication currently considered the most effective drug for treating the virus. Patients given vitamin D in the study were also found to be 80 percent less likely to need intensive care treatment.

Studies carried out at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have shown that specific combinations of micronutrients can block the interaction between the binding site of the coronavirus ‘spike’ and its specific cellular ‘entry door’ into human cells – the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor. The interaction targeted in this research is the first step in coronavirus infections and the same biological mechanism targeted by COVID-19 vaccines.

Other researchers similarly following a multi-nutrient approach have shown that daily doses of vitamin D3, magnesium, and vitamin B12 reduce disease severity in older coronavirus patients. They found that use of this micronutrient combination significantly reduced the proportion of patients suffering clinical deterioration who required oxygen and/or intensive care support.

The critical micronutrient for fighting the coronavirus pandemic is vitamin C. A recent randomized, placebo-controlled clinical intervention study carried out in Wuhan, China, with patients at advanced stages of the infection, has documented that high-dose vitamin C can cut the death rate almost in half.
