GOP Sen. Blunt: Trump Should Focus on 2022 Elections Instead of Relitigating 2020

Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) called on former President Donald Trump to focus on the 2022 midterm elections instead of relitigating 2020. Partial transcript as follows: CHUCK TODD: Well, I want to talk, though, but I don’t know if your report is going to deal with the root cause, right? The root cause is you have the leader of your party, you know — whether, whether everybody wants to acknowledge the former president as the leader of the Republican Party right now or not — he seems to be the biggest, biggest fish in this pond now. He’s had — his chief of staff was pushing the idea that Italy used military satellites to somehow rig the election. And he keeps doing this. And he did it last night in North Carolina. You’re part of this group of Republicans that has stated that you don’t believe in that nonsense, but you don’t, you don’t really push back at the president for spreading these falsehoods so much. Are you not — do you fear you’re not doing enough? I mean, one in four people in your party believe these delusional things. Are you concerned about this?

Joe Biden Says Mitt Romney Has 'Enormous Integrity' — After Claiming He was Going to Put People 'Back in Chains'

President-elect Joe Biden praised U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) on Friday, despite viciously attacking his character in the past. While speaking to reporters, Biden complimented Romney and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell: Biden says “a number” of Republicans have called him since Wednesday to express outrage & embarrassment with Trump. He praises McConell & Romney for standing up & saying the right things on Senate floor, but adds “there’s others who should be ashamed of themselves.” pic.twitter.com/Q1GAn4WoBM — Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) January 8, 2021 Biden said he spoke to Romney Friday morning and added, “Enormous respect for” Romney “and I ran against him.” He praised Romney, claiming he “lives his faith.” But in 2012, Biden brutally assailed Romney. I’m old enough to remember when Biden had a very different take on the moral compass of Sen. Romney…. “(Romney) is going to put y’all back in chains” https://t.co/SiCD1AiyAv pic.twitter.com/p7GmL6pTk7 — Leigh Wolf (@LeighWolf) January 8, 2021 While running for reelection as vice president, Biden told a predominately black audience that Romney was “going to put y’all back in chains.” Biden claimed Romney was “fundamentally wrong” and “totally out of touch.” Invoking the campaign’s oft-used “Osama bin Laden

Joe Biden: 'Good' that Donald Trump Not Attending Inauguration but Mike Pence 'Welcome'

President-elect Joe Biden said Friday that he agreed with President Donald Trump’s decision not to attend his Inauguration but said that Vice President Mike Pence was welcome. “One of the few things he and I have ever agreed on,” he replied when asked by reporters about Trump’s announcement Friday that he would not attend the inauguration ceremony. “It’s a good thing — him not showing up.” Biden said that Trump had “exceeded even his worst notions” about his character. “He’s been an embarrassment to the country. Embarrassed us around the world. Not worthy to hold that office,” Biden said about Trump. But Biden said that he would welcome Vice President Mike Pence to the ceremony, citing the importance of maintaining the historical precedence of the transfer of power. “Mike, the vice president, is welcome to come, I’d be honored to have him there,” Biden said, but added that he had not spoken to Pence. The President-elect said that if Trump still had six months in office, he would support any effort to remove him from office, but that with only 13 days left, he would focus only on getting inaugurated and getting to work right away. “It is time for

Donald Trump: 'Facts Are on Our Side' in Election Fight, but 'Time Isn't'

President Donald Trump admitted to reporters Thursday that though facts are on his side in the legal fight over the results of the election, time is not. “As to whether or not I can get this apparatus moving this quickly–because time isn’t on our side…,” Trump said. “Everything else is on our side. Facts are on our side.” The president spoke to reporters  Thursday evening after speaking to members of the armed forces for Thanksgiving Day. A reporter asked Trump if he would concede the presidential election if the electoral college voted for former Vice President Joe Biden on December 14. “It’s going to be a very hard thing to concede because we know there was massive fraud,” he said. Trump questioned the voting process and the vote-counting machines as well as the mail-in ballot process, which, he said, was open to fraud. “This should never take place in this country. We’re like a third world country,” he said. “We have machines that nobody knows what the hell they’re looking at.” Trump also questioned how Biden could beat Obama’s vote numbers in swing states but remain far below Obama’s records in other areas of the country. “This is not a

Judge Dismisses AZ GOP's Lawsuit Demanding Hand Recount Based on Precinct

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge John Hannah dismissed a petition from the Republican Party of Arizona on Thursday asking for a hand count audit of the votes in Maricopa County based on precinct rather than by voting centers. Last week, the Republican Party of Arizona announced a legal challenge, demanding a hand recount of votes by precinct rather than by voting centers, citing the “fundamental difference” between the two. “[The] most notable being the fact that there were only around 175 voting centers in this election but there were 748 precincts,” the Republican Party of Arizona said in a statement at the time. Hannah dismissed the petition on Thursday. “We brought this suit because the statute is clear that to audit, hand audit the electronic count, it is supposed to be done by precincts,”  Republican Party of Arizona Chairwoman Kelli Ward said in a Friday update. “There are 748 precincts while there are only 175 voting centers, so theoretically there would be a larger sample of votes that needed to be hand-counted to adjudicate, or to check on the machine count of these ballots,” she added: [embed]https://youtube.com/watch?v=2QOTwswOnjc&feature=oembed[/embed] In a formal statement, Ward called for a “full hand count

Romney Scolds Trump for Fighting On: 'Difficult to Imagine a Worse, More Undemocratic Action' by President

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) excoriated President Donald Trump and his allies early Friday morning for continuing to fight for a clearer picture of attempts at election fraud in key swing states. Romney alleged the president had “failed to make even a plausible case of widespread fraud or conspiracy” in a host of cases the president’s team has launched in selected battleground states where he trails Joe Biden. “The president has now resorted to overt pressure on state and local officials to subvert the will of the people and overturn the election. It is difficult to imagine a worse, more undemocratic action by a sitting American president,” Romney said in a statement posted to Twitter. pic.twitter.com/S3kFsIRGmi — Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) November 20, 2020 Romney’s statement came after Rudy Giuliani used a press conference to air allegations of electoral fraud as part of an effort to shine of a light on the vote certification process. Two other GOP senators — Sens. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) — have also rebutted comments made during Giuliani’s press conference. Georgia County Elections Director Fired After Audit Found Uncounted Votes

The elections board of Floyd County, Georgia, on Thursday voted to terminate its executive director after an audit found ballots left uncounted prior to the county’s initial certification. FOX 5 reports: The board met for little more than an hour Thursday afternoon in a special meeting, which resulted in [Floyd Chief of Elections Clerk Robert Brady’s] termination. Officials cited at least two reprimands that Brady received in the past six months as the reason for his firing. […] Election officials discovered around 2,600 votes that were not counted in the county’s total earlier this week during the statewide audit. Election workers ultimately had to recount more than 8,000 ballots to get to the bottom of the problem. “It really is a matter of human error not of some big fraud or conspiracy and people make mistakes, but, unfortunately, I think this one falls at the feet of our elections director who I’ve been critical of this entire elections cycle,” Rome City Commissioner Wendy Davis said in a statement. Davis added: “There weren’t the right double and triple checks right before certification to realize we hadn’t counted as many numbers as the people that early voted.” Brady’s firing comes after the

Mitch McConnell: A Republic's 'Legitimacy' Does Not Flow from Left's 'Feelings'

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said on the Senate floor Monday night that America is a “constitutional republic,” and the government’s “legitimacy” does not arise from the left’s “feelings.” McConnell said before the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, “Our Democratic colleagues keep repeating the word illegitimate as if repetition would make it true …We’re a constitutional republic. Legitimacy does not flow from their feelings.” He also said that Democrats now “see legitimate defeat as an oxymoron.” “The louder they scream, the less accurate they are,” he added. McConnell charged that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) wants to confirm activist judges instead of originalist judges such as Barrett. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) also slammed leftists’ attacks against Barrett during her confirmation. He said on the Senate floor:  The nomination of Amy Coney Barrett is truly historic. This is the most openly pro-life judicial nominee to the Supreme Court in my lifetime. This is an individual who has been open in her criticism of that illegitimate decision Roe v. Wade. This is a nominee who has been open about her faith and her faith commitments and the way she and her husband live their lives

Exclusive — Trump Campaign Takes Over YouTube Homepage for 24 Hours One Week from Election

President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign will take over YouTube’s homepage on Tuesday for 24 hours with a 7-figure ad buy, a huge investment one week from Election Day, Breitbart News has learned. The move, enabled by Trump campaign investments early on in the 2020 cycle, will feature a number of key ads the president’s campaign hopes to sink in to the broader public in the final days before Americans head to the polls a week from Tuesday. The ads that will run as part of the buy include a variety of different messages, and these not-yet-public YouTube links to the Trump campaign ads will go public at midnight on the east coast. The first one features a narrator speaking about key themes of Trump’s rise to the White House, and moments from his presidency, on the backdrop of patriotic pictures of the president: [embed]https://youtube.com/watch?v=rh98f5M2V6I&feature=oembed[/embed] The second one goes through several statistics from the Trump presidency, including how Trump has added seven million jobs as president–500,000 of them manufacturing jobs–overseen wage growth, cut taxes for Americans, and set other economic records: [embed]https://youtube.com/watch?v=e72DT0R8_1s&feature=oembed[/embed] The third one is a direct-to-camera video of President Trump discussing the threat of the

Justice Amy Coney Barrett Will Face Cases on Voting, Obamacare, Apportionment, Mueller Report

Newly-confirmed Justice Amy Coney Barrett will face several important cases upon taking her seat at the Supreme Court. In the long term, she could have a profound influence on American jurisprudence, reinforcing originalism and textualism, and perhaps revisiting controversial precedents such as Roe v. Wade. First, Justice Barrett will face these important cases: Elections: Already, the Supreme Court has begun to consider cases involving the 2020 elections. Moments before Barrett was confirmed by the Senate, it sided with Republicans in blocking a lower court’s decision to extend the deadline for the receipt of absentee ballots in the state by six days beyond Election Day. At least one decision deadlocked 4-4; no longer. Obamacare: On November 10, the Supreme Court will hear Texas v. California. The case will consider several different issues, including whether the individual mandate of Obamacare is unconstitutional once its value has been set to zero by Congress, and whether the entire law must be overturned as a result (whether the mandate is “severable”). It is unlikely, contrary to Democrats’ claims, that the Affordable Care Act will be overturned, but theoretically the Court could do so. Apportionment: On November 30, the Court will hear Trump v. New York, a challenge brought by Democrat-governed
