Biden’s “Diplomacy Is Back” Falls Flat as 2021 Middle East Policy a Miserable Flop

Despite President Joe Biden having claimed earlier this year that “diplomacy is back” and that he would end the war in Yemen, revive the Iran Nuclear Deal and settle several other issues, in reality his Middle East foreign policy has been just as detrimental to the region as was that of his predecessor. “This war has to end…we’re ending all American support for offensive operations in the war in Yemen, including relevant arm sales,” Biden said in early February during his first address to the U.S. public on his administration’s foreign policy approach. It was a speech that saw him showered with the praise of his supporters, yet we are now in late December and the war has only intensified, with UN experts estimating that the total death toll by the end of the year will be 377,000. To make things even worse, as Saudi Arabia’s bombs target urban centers in Yemen’s capital Sana’a, including the country’s primary airport and a maternity hospital, the U.S. just approved another $650 million weapons sale to Riyadh. Instead of withdrawing their support for the Saudis’ “offensive actions” and ending weapons sales, the Biden administration has done the exact opposite – and took no

Saagar Enjeti: The Pseudo-Populist Mainlining Neocon Ideas into Progressive Politics

WASHINGTON — Saagar Enjeti and Krystal Ball are the new king and queen of alternative media. After having just quit The Hill to go fully independent, their new show “Breaking Points” immediately debuted at number one in the global politics podcast charts, comfortably overtaking well-established brands like “Pod Save America” and “The Ben Shapiro Show.” They even received the ultimate plug with an appearance on and an endorsement from Joe Rogan, a veritable blessing from the pope of pop culture. “Breaking Points” is effectively a copy of “Rising,” Enjeti and Ball’s show on The Hill. “Rising” had the look and tone of a cable news show, with two well-presented and attractive hosts chatting to guests in a brightly lit studio. But it had far more substance, featuring stories and  points of view that are completely ignored in the rest of corporate media. The two invited on a range of informative guests the caliber of whom is simply not found on cable news. Thus, it had a jarringly subversive quality that appealed to viewers, as if the two were smuggling forbidden but increasingly popular ideas all while maintaining a polished, corporate feel. 1/ It's been 1 month since @krystalball and

U.S. Still Servicing Saudi Warplanes That Are Bombing Yemen

(ANTIWAR.COM) — The Biden administration has finally clarified the extent to which it is still supporting Saudi Arabia’s military in Yemen. In comments to Vox, Pentagon officials admitted that the US is still maintaining Saudi Arabia’s warplanes by using contractors. The US could cancel the contracts at any time, which would effectively ground the Saudi Air Force, ending the vicious bombing campaign that has been raging since March 2015. “The United States continues to provide maintenance support to Saudi Arabia’s Air Force given the critical role it plays in Saudi air defense and our longstanding security partnership,” a Pentagon spokesperson told Vox over the weekend. The maintenance is done through the Pentagon’s Foreign Military Sales program, which means Saudi Arabia pays the US to provide contractors that can maintain the warplanes. The admission comes over two months since President Biden said he was ending support for Riyadh’s “offensive” operations in Yemen. Vox reporter Alex Ward asked Pentagon spokesman John Kirby on Monday if the planes that the US is servicing could be used for offensive operations in Yemen. Kirby admitted that the “maintenance support for systems could be used for both” offensive and defensive operations. Biden’s special envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, claimed to Congress last week that he was

U.S. Says It Will Be Able to “Take Action” in Afghanistan Even After Withdrawal

(ANTIWAR.COM) — Since President Biden announced his plan to withdraw from Afghanistan by September 11th, US officials have been clear that they want to maintain some sort of presence in the country. In an interview on Sunday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken insisted that the US will still “have the means” to monitor Afghanistan and “take action” if needed. “We will have the means to see if there is a resurgence, a reemergence of a terrorist threat from Afghanistan,” Blinken said. “We’ll be able to see that in real-time with time to take action. And we’re going to be repositioning our forces and our assets to make sure that we guard against the potential reemergence.” Last week, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the US plans to continue “paying salaries ” for the Afghan military and suggested the US wants to maintain the ability to bomb Afghanistan. A report from The New York Times said US officials are considering repositioning forces in neighboring  Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan for “counterterrorism” purposes. The US currently has 2,500 troops in Afghanistan, but there is another heavy US presence in the form of contractors working for the Pentagon. The latest numbers released in January said there are currently 18,000 US military contractors in Afghanistan,

Biden Ends US Support for Saudi “Offensive Operations” in Yemen

UPDATE: [embed]https://youtube.com/watch?v=j9lLsh1E2C0&feature=oembed[/embed] (ANTIWAR.COM) — President Biden will announce an end to US support for Saudi Arabia’s offensive operations in Yemen during a foreign policy speech on Thursday afternoon, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said. Sullivan said President Biden “is going to announce an end to American support for offensive operations in Yemen. That is a promise he made on the campaign that he will be following through on. But he will go further than that, he will talk about the US taking a more active and engaged role in the diplomacy to bring an end to the conflict in Yemen, and that will include the naming of a special envoy.” Biden is expected to name Timothy Lenderking, a veteran diplomat, as US envoy to Yemen who will work to end the conflict between the Saudis and the Houthis. The president will make the announcements as part of a broader foreign policy speech. While announcing Biden’s plan, Sullivan said it would not include US operations against al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). “It does not extend to actions against AQAP,” he said. “It extends to the types of offensive operations that have perpetuated a civil war in Yemen that has

Watch: Ben Swann on Media, Politics, and ISE Media on The Ripple Effect Podcast

In my recent interview with Ricky Varandas on The Ripple Effect podcast, I enjoyed a great discussion on current and past events impacting the world and talked about the launch of my new platform, ISE Media. In this interview I was able to share some of my background in my 20 years of journalism and explained how 2012 in particular was an awakening to the way that mainstream media operates. As we covered a number of topics ranging from issues stemming from the pandemic to widespread corruption in the media, I appreciated the opportunity to talk about the censorship sweeping across every tech platform and how ISE is poised to allow a space where facts and ideas can be freely discussed. Ricky and I also talked about the equity crowdfund for ISE Media going on now. With the support of investors in this crowdfund our goal is to expand the platform; we launched this crowdfund to not only help our team continue development and building out the platform, but to allow our investors to actually own a part of ISE Media. Truth In Media with Ben Swann, Episode 35: Congress Sells Out U.S. Troops, Refusing Again To End Afghanistan War

While the New York Times and other media outlets are deeply concerned about evidence lacking and unverified reports of Russian bounties on U.S. troops, they all but ignore that the U.S. Congress has once again sold out U.S. troops in a new vote that refuses to bring them home from Afghanistan. This, despite the publication of the Afghanistan War papers which prove that the 18-year war has always been unwinnable and yet the public has been repeatedly lied to about the war. Trudeau Should Withdraw from the Lima Group, Rescind Sanctions on Venezuela

On June 17, the Trudeau government suffered a humiliating defeat by losing its bid for a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) seat to Ireland and Norway. It was a strong rebuttal of Trudeau’s policy of “colonialism at home, imperialism abroad.” It should be obvious by now that serious questions need to be asked about Trudeau’sContinue reading “Trudeau Should Withdraw from the Lima Group, Rescind Sanctions on Venezuela”

America Lost Its Soul(and Sanity) when Its Wasp Elites aided and abetted the Zionist-Jewish Supremacist Destruction of Palestine — Failure of Wasp Elites to Lay the Ground for Criticism of Jewish Elite Power — Support for Zionism as Gateway Drug for Other Lunacies of the West

Many people say the Iraq War was America’s biggest foreign policy failure, but there was something far worse. It was the Anglo-American elite’s decision to support Zionism at the expense of the Palestinians and other Arabs/Muslims in the larger region. (One could argue that America’s biggest foreign policy disaster was the decision to import allContinue reading “America Lost Its Soul(and Sanity) when Its Wasp Elites aided and abetted the Zionist-Jewish Supremacist Destruction of Palestine — Failure of Wasp Elites to Lay the Ground for Criticism of Jewish Elite Power — Support for Zionism as Gateway Drug for Other Lunacies of the West”
