Houston Nurses Protest After Losing Their Jobs for Refusing COVID-19 Shots

More than a hundred hospital employees and supporters gathered in protest of the firing of employees who reject COVID-19 shots, writes Derrick Broze. (TLAV) — On Monday afternoon, employees of the Houston Methodist hospital system were joined by supporters from around the Houston area as they were suspended without pay for saying no to COVID-19 injections. The employees are now suing Houston Methodist in an effort to fight against COVID19 mandates. The Houston Methodist hospital operates eight hospitals with more than 26,000 employees. On March 31, Methodist CEO Dr. Marc Boom announced that the shots – which have not received approval by the US Food and Drug Administration – would be mandatory for all employees. Houston Methodist hospital employees were told to take the shots by June 7th or lose their jobs. Methodist also required hospital managers to have at least one COVID shot by April 15th. Those who chose not to receive the treatments by Monday now have 2 final weeks before they will officially be fired. “Mandating the vaccine was not a decision we made lightly. … Because science has proven that the Covid-19 vaccines are not only safe, but extremely effective, it became an easier decision to make,” Boom wrote

Algorithm Manipulation is the Only Thing Keeping Mainstream Media Alive

(CJ) — The emergence of the internet was met with hope and enthusiasm by people who understood that the plutocrat-controlled mainstream media were manipulating public opinion to manufacture consent for the status quo. The democratization of information-sharing was going to give rise to a public consciousness that is emancipated from the domination of plutocratic narrative control, thereby opening up the possibility of revolutionary change to our society’s corrupt systems. But it never happened. Internet use has become commonplace around the world and humanity is able to network and share information like never before, yet we remain firmly under the thumb of the same power structures we’ve been ruled by for generations, both politically and psychologically. Even the dominant media institutions are somehow still the same. So what went wrong? Nobody’s buying newspapers anymore, and the audiences for television and radio are dwindling. How is it possible that those same imperialist oligarchic institutions are still controlling the way most people think about their world? The answer is algorithm manipulation. Here’s @YouTube’s CEO openly admitting to: 1) Ranking corporate news higher in YT’s algorithim 2)Suppressing independent news/politics channels3)Suppressing people creating content “from their basement” (THE ORIGINAL PURPOSE of YT) This is scandaloushttps://t.co/B8G2AYvBul — Jordan (@JordanChariton) April 22, 2021

As We Hold Them Accountable, Police Across the U.S. Are Quitting in Record Numbers

(TFTP) — New reports from across the country show that police departments are unable to keep their numbers up as fewer people are applying to be cops and record numbers of cops are seeking early retirement or simply quitting. There is a police recruitment crisis in America but this should not surprise anyone and can serve as a major opportunity, if we seize it. Though calls for police accountability have been becoming louder over the last few years, the movement sparked by the murder of George Floyd set off a powder keg which has led to historical reform from coast to coast. As a result of the push to be held accountable for their actions, cops are upset and are leaving the force in record numbers. According to a report out of New York, more than 5,300 NYPD uniformed officers retired or put in their papers to leave in 2020 — a 75 percent spike from the year before. A whopping 2,600 cops quit the job while another 2,746 officers filed for an early retirement. These number make up approximately 15% of the entire NYPD. The trend is continuing into 2021 as well. As FOX reports, through April 21 of this

U.S. Still Servicing Saudi Warplanes That Are Bombing Yemen

(ANTIWAR.COM) — The Biden administration has finally clarified the extent to which it is still supporting Saudi Arabia’s military in Yemen. In comments to Vox, Pentagon officials admitted that the US is still maintaining Saudi Arabia’s warplanes by using contractors. The US could cancel the contracts at any time, which would effectively ground the Saudi Air Force, ending the vicious bombing campaign that has been raging since March 2015. “The United States continues to provide maintenance support to Saudi Arabia’s Air Force given the critical role it plays in Saudi air defense and our longstanding security partnership,” a Pentagon spokesperson told Vox over the weekend. The maintenance is done through the Pentagon’s Foreign Military Sales program, which means Saudi Arabia pays the US to provide contractors that can maintain the warplanes. The admission comes over two months since President Biden said he was ending support for Riyadh’s “offensive” operations in Yemen. Vox reporter Alex Ward asked Pentagon spokesman John Kirby on Monday if the planes that the US is servicing could be used for offensive operations in Yemen. Kirby admitted that the “maintenance support for systems could be used for both” offensive and defensive operations. Biden’s special envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, claimed to Congress last week that he was

U.S. Says It Will Be Able to “Take Action” in Afghanistan Even After Withdrawal

(ANTIWAR.COM) — Since President Biden announced his plan to withdraw from Afghanistan by September 11th, US officials have been clear that they want to maintain some sort of presence in the country. In an interview on Sunday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken insisted that the US will still “have the means” to monitor Afghanistan and “take action” if needed. “We will have the means to see if there is a resurgence, a reemergence of a terrorist threat from Afghanistan,” Blinken said. “We’ll be able to see that in real-time with time to take action. And we’re going to be repositioning our forces and our assets to make sure that we guard against the potential reemergence.” Last week, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the US plans to continue “paying salaries ” for the Afghan military and suggested the US wants to maintain the ability to bomb Afghanistan. A report from The New York Times said US officials are considering repositioning forces in neighboring  Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan for “counterterrorism” purposes. The US currently has 2,500 troops in Afghanistan, but there is another heavy US presence in the form of contractors working for the Pentagon. The latest numbers released in January said there are currently 18,000 US military contractors in Afghanistan,

As Predicted: Immunity Passports Are No Longer A Fantasy

As the European Union announces they are preparing to implement “vaccine certificates” the largest airline association is also preparing to roll out their version of the controversial Immunity Passports. (TLAV) — On Thursday, the European Union’s 27 political leaders held a 5-hour virtual call to discuss the future of reopening travel across the continent. German Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters the leaders have “agreed that we need vaccine certificates.” Merkel also sought to quell fears about the use of such certificates, stating, “it will certainly be good to have such a certificate but that will not mean that only those who have such a passport will be able to travel; about that, no political decisions have been made yet.” The discussion around immunity passports has grown in recent months, with the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, and Spain all considering some method of verifying whether an individual has been vaccinated or achieved immunity from COVID-19. UK officials have also discussed the potential for the use of a digital verification tool for domestic travel. In the United States, plans for immunity passports are also being developed. On January 21, Joe Biden outlined a 200-page national coronavirus pandemic strategy which included a call for the U.S. government to “assess the feasibility of linking COVID-19 vaccination to International

“Biden is Not Obama”: Israel Very Pleased With Biden’s Decision to Bomb Syria

(ANTIWAR.COM) — Israeli officials told Walla News on Friday that Israel is highly pleased with President Biden’s decision to bomb Shia militia targets in eastern Syria. Although the airstrikes hit an Iraqi militia, the attack is being framed as a move against Iran, and the officials compared Biden to President Obama, who they view as soft on Iran due to the 2015 nuclear deal. “The Iranians didn’t realize that Biden is not Obama, and that if they will continue down this road of miscalculation they will eventually get hit,” one Israeli official told Walla. According to a report from Axios, Israel was given advanced notice of the Syria airstrikes on Thursday morning. The notification took place during talks of the so-call “working group,” a forum the US and Israel are using to discuss Iran issues that is headed by each countries’ national security advisors. Israel has been bombing Syria for years and frequently targets Shia militias that they always claim are linked to Iran. Last week, Israel bombed Damascus, Syria, killing nine people who were described as pro-government militia fighters. Biden Bombs Syria and Claims Self Defense

(CJ Opinion) — On orders of President Biden, the United States has launched an airstrike on a facility in Syria. As of this writing the exact number of killed and injured is unknown, with early reports claiming “a handful” of people were killed. Rather than doing anything remotely resembling journalism, the western mass media have opted instead to uncritically repeat what they’ve been told about the airstrike by US officials, which is the same as just publishing Pentagon press releases. Here’s this from The Washington Post: The Biden administration conducted an airstrike against alleged Iranian-linked fighters in Syria on Thursday, signaling its intent to push back against violence believed to be sponsored by Tehran. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the attack, the first action ordered by the Biden administration to push back against alleged Iranian-linked violence in Iraq and Syria, on a border control point in eastern Syria was “authorized in response to recent attacks against American and coalition personnel in Iraq, and to ongoing threats.” He said the facilities were used by Iranian-linked militias including Kaitib Hezbollah and Kaitib Sayyid al-Shuhada. The operation follows the latest serious attack on U.S. locations in Iraq that American officials have attributed to Iranian-linked

Biden to Continue Seeking Extradition of Assange

(ANTIWAR.COM) — The Biden Administration will continue to seek the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, a Justice Department official said on Tuesday. This means the US will continue to challenge the decision of Vanessa Baraitser, the UK judge who ruled against the extradition, citing the risk of Assange committing suicide if he ends up in a US supermax prison. “We continue to seek his extradition,” said Justice Department spokesman Marc Raimondi, according to Reuters. Baraitser made her decision on January 4th, and the US formally appealed the ruling on January 15th. The appeal process could take months, and Assange is still being held in London’s Belmarsh prison. The Trump Administration indicted Assange on 17 counts of espionage and one count of conspiracy to commit a computer crime. If extradited, Assange could face up to 175 years in prison for exposing US war crimes. While Baraitser ultimately ruled against the extradition, she sided with the US prosecution team in her ruling and said the US would be justified to put Assange on trial for espionage. But Assange used standard journalistic practices to obtain the leaks he was indicted for, something many human rights groups, journalist organizations, and UN officials have pointed out. With

Bipartisan Support Grows for Domestic Terror Laws

Since the incident at the US Capitol Building on January 6th, calls for new domestic terror laws are growing. President Biden and plenty of other US politicians have made it clear that they view the demonstrators who entered the Capitol as “domestic terrorists.” In Congress, there is bipartisan support to increase penalties for domestic terror convictions that put them on the same level as laws targeting international groups, like ISIS and al-Qaeda. On Thursday, a bipartisan majority of the House Homeland Security Committee endorsed the idea of domestic terror laws. US lawmakers heard from so-called experts who claimed there was a “high likelihood” that another “domestic terrorist attack” would occur soon. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers calling for new domestic terror laws. “I think it sends a strong message about where Congress is, that we’re going to treat domestic terrorism on an equal plane as international terrorism,” he said. Elizabeth Neumann, a former assistant secretary for counterterrorism and threat prevention at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, suggested that the threat would linger for “10 to 20 years.” Domestic terror legislation has been introduced in Congress that would establish domestic terror offices within the Department of

Biden Ends US Support for Saudi “Offensive Operations” in Yemen

UPDATE: [embed]https://youtube.com/watch?v=j9lLsh1E2C0&feature=oembed[/embed] (ANTIWAR.COM) — President Biden will announce an end to US support for Saudi Arabia’s offensive operations in Yemen during a foreign policy speech on Thursday afternoon, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said. Sullivan said President Biden “is going to announce an end to American support for offensive operations in Yemen. That is a promise he made on the campaign that he will be following through on. But he will go further than that, he will talk about the US taking a more active and engaged role in the diplomacy to bring an end to the conflict in Yemen, and that will include the naming of a special envoy.” Biden is expected to name Timothy Lenderking, a veteran diplomat, as US envoy to Yemen who will work to end the conflict between the Saudis and the Houthis. The president will make the announcements as part of a broader foreign policy speech. While announcing Biden’s plan, Sullivan said it would not include US operations against al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). “It does not extend to actions against AQAP,” he said. “It extends to the types of offensive operations that have perpetuated a civil war in Yemen that has

Top US Admiral Warns Nuclear War With Russia, China is a “Real Possibility”

(ANTIWAR.COM) — The head of US Strategic Command (STRATCOM) warned that a nuclear war with Russia or China is a “real possibility” and is calling for a change in US policy that reflects this threat. “There is a real possibility that a regional crisis with Russia or China could escalate quickly to a conflict involving nuclear weapons, if they perceived a conventional loss would threaten the regime or state,”  Vice Adm. Charles Richard wrote in the February edition of the US Naval Institute’s monthly magazine. Richard said the US military must “shift its principal assumption from ‘nuclear employment is not possible’ to ‘nuclear employment is a very real possibility,’ and act to meet and deter that reality.” The STRATCOM chief said Russia and China “have begun to aggressively challenge international norms and global peace using instruments of power and threats of force in ways not seen since the height of the Cold War.” Richard hyped up Russia and China’s nuclear modernization, calling for the US to compete with the two nations. When it comes to China’s nuclear weapons, the US and Russia have vastly larger arsenals. Current estimates put Beijing’s nuclear arsenal at about 320 warheads, while Washington and Moscow have about 6,000

Americans Are Being Divided as the War on Domestic Terror Expands

Americans appear too divided and distracted to recognize that the architects of the Patriot Act and the failed War on Terror now have their sights set on the American homeland. The first week of 2021 kicked off with chaos at the Capitol in Washington D.C. Was it a protest, a riot or an insurrection? Were there provocateurs, and if so, were they Antifa, the cops, and/or the Feds? As usual, everyone on the internet thinks they know the answer within ten minutes. Unfortunately, this genuinely leads to the spreading of unfounded theories – many based on nothing but speculation and emotion. But while the public is debating over theories and arguing amongst themselves, the newly emboldened Military Industrial Complex is eagerly anticipating the incoming Biden Administration as an opportunity to expand the War on Domestic Terror. In the immediate aftermath of the “storming of the Capitol”, the media pundits, intelligence community, and politicians began foaming at the mouth in excitement over the chance to push through Domestic Terror legislation. Michigan representative Elissa Slotkin, also former Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense and CIA analyst, said, “the post 9/11 era is over. The single greatest national security threat right now is our

“You Alone Can Save His Life”: Snowden Urges Trump to Pardon Assange

National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden on Thursday urged President Donald Trump to pardon WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. “You alone can save his life,” Snowden tweeted. Mr. President, if you grant only one act of clemency during your time in office, please: free Julian Assange. You alone can save his life. @realDonaldTrump — Edward Snowden (@Snowden) December 3, 2020 Assange, who exposed U.S. war crimes, has been jailed at Belmarsh Prison in London since April 2019 and faces possible extradition to the U.S. Facing 17 alleged violations of the U.S. Espionage Act and one for computer fraud, Assange could be hit with a sentence of up to 175 years. His detention conditions and case have prompted international outrage from human rights and press freedom defenders. Snowden’s appeal to Trump came a week after Stella Moris, Assange’s partner, tweeted an image of their two young sons and urged the U.S. president to grant Assange freedom. “I beg you, please bring him home for Christmas @realDonaldTrump,” Moris tweeted. The plights of Assange and Snowden—who’s lived in Russia since his 2013 explosive leak of documents revealing the U.S. government’s massive surveillance operations—also drew attention this week from Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawii), who urged

US Slaps More Sanctions on Iran, Claiming Tehran Has Secret Chemical Weapons

(ANTIWAR.COM) — The US slapped more sanctions on Iran on Thursday, claiming that Tehran is operating a secret chemical weapons program despite a lack of evidence and Iran’s staunch opposition to chemical warfare. The Treasury Department announced that the Shahid Meisami Group and its director had been added to the US sanctions list over alleged links to chemical weapons research. “The United States will continue to counter any efforts by the Iranian regime to develop chemical weapons,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement. Many Iranians were victims of chemical weapons attacks during the Iran-Iraq war that lasted from 1980 to 1988. The US supported Saddam Hussein in the war while being aware that he was using chemical weapons. CIA documents that were declassified in 2013 revealed that in 1988, the US shared intelligence with Hussein to show the location of Iranian troops, knowing he would use lethal gas against them. The documents revealed the US had firm evidence Hussein was using chemical weapons as early as 1983. A 1994 congressional inquiry found that US companies shipped anthrax and dozens of other biological agents that could be used to make chemical weapons to Iraq during the war. Chemical weapons killed an estimated

Maine Becomes the First State to Officially Register the People’s Party

Augusta, Maine — The People’s Party is on the move! It officially registered as a state party in Maine today, where in order to get on the ballot for the 2022 midterms, it had to register in December of this year. Organizers filed on the morning of the first day of the filing window. The first state party registration comes less than a month after the general election, as the People’s Party prepares to offer a progressive populist alternative to the corporate-funded Democratic and Republican parties in 2022 and 2024. ”We are very excited to file today, a lot of Mainers’ work went into getting to this moment. We look forward to the hard work ahead of us to grow this party for the people to success,” said Lindsey Weeks, Maine state coordinator with the Movement for a People’s Party. The People’s Party is the emerging successor of the Movement for a People’s Party, the 120,000-member national movement for a major new party in America. This August, MPP held a national convention with more than 30 renowned speakers including Dr. Cornel West, Sen. Nina Turner, Marianne Williamson, Danny Glover, Jesse Ventura, Jimmy Dore, Chris Hedges, Amaya Wangeshi, Chris Smalls, Ryan Knight,

International Criminal Court Denounces ‘Unprecedented Attacks’ by US

(CD) — The International Criminal Court on Thursday rebuked the Trump administration for slapping sanctions and travel restrictions on court staff investigating alleged war crimes committed by U.S., calling the action “an unacceptable attempt to interfere with the rule of law.” The new statement from the Hague-based body came after President Donald Trump issued an executive order authorizing the actions targeting ICC staff and their family members—as well as anyone who has “directly engaged in any effort by the ICC” to investigate the U.S. or a U.S. ally—as the Trump administration continues to lash out over ongoing investigations into alleged war crimes committed by U.S. forces and others in Afghanistan and alleged war crimes committed by Israel against Palestinians. The court called Trump’s order “the latest in a series of unprecedented attacks on the ICC, an independent international judicial institution, as well as on the Rome Statute system of international criminal justice.” “These attacks constitute an escalation and an unacceptable attempt to interfere with the rule of law and the court’s judicial proceedings,” the statement continued. “They are announced with the declared aim of influencing the actions of ICC officials in the context of the court’s independent and objective investigations and impartial judicial proceedings.”
